How Do Breast Cancer Surgeons Work?

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with over 1.7 million women diagnosed in the United States in 2017. Breast cancer can occur at any age, but is more common in women over 50 years old. There are five types of breast cancer: estrogen receptor-positive (ER+), estrogen receptor-negative (ER-), progesterone receptor-positive (PR+), progesterone receptor-negative (PR-), and unknown (U).

Estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer is the most aggressive form of the disease and accounts for about 75% of all cases of breast cancer. These cancers tend to grow faster and spread more quickly than other types of breast cancer. To get more details about breast cancer surgeons, you may check it here.

Treatment options vary depending on the stage of the disease, but typically include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Some patients may also require hormonal therapy or a mastectomy.

Estrogen receptor-negative breast cancer is less common than estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer, but it still accounts for about 15% of all cases of the disease. These cancers do not respond as well to hormone therapy or radiation therapy and often have a shorter lifespan than estrogen receptor-positive cancers.

Progestin receptor-positive breast cancer is rarer than other types of breast cancer. These cancers are usually hormone receptor-positive but can also be progesterone or androgen receptor-positive.
