What To Know About Wisdom Tooth Extraction

The last four teeth to emerge in your mouth are your third molars, or commonly known as wisdom teeth. They are called so because they appear during your late teens or early twenties, a time when a person is supposed to be wiser.

While it is not always necessary, some dentists suggest wisdom tooth extraction early to prevent any troubles later on. You might say that you do not need an extraction since your wisdom teeth do not hurt, but it is better to consult your dentist so that you may be aware of the real state of your teeth.

Other than determining if you have an impaction, your dentist can also assess if your mouth is too small to hold an extra set of teeth. Jaw development is attributed to Vitamin K2, found in grass-fed animal meat and liver, which regulates calcium in the body.

Due to modern changes in animal diet, you may not have consumed a sufficient amount of this vitamin while you were growing up, and thus you may have developed a small jaw.

Your dentist will take an X-ray of your mouth before extraction to determine if an oral surgeon may have to perform the procedure. Depending on the extent of your condition, you may be given local, sedation, or general anesthesia.

After wisdom tooth removal, incisions may be made over the wound to facilitate healing. The type of anesthesia administered to you will determine the length of time you can recover from it.
